Like seemingly everyone else these days, I work from home. Now going into Covid I was “just a stay at home mom” but somewhere around month 10 I realized I wanted something more. I started real estate classes in February of 2021 and finally had enough hours and sat for the PSI exam in early September. Once I had my license in hand I went out and found myself a broker, had some headshots taken, ordered business cards and got to work! I also needed to make sure to have a cute, functional office space to work out of. Originally I started off downstairs in what is supposed to be our dining room but had become an office/homeschool classroom long ago. I liked my spot there BUT I rarely got anything done! Cats trying to sit on my lap or walk across my keyboard or a dog needing to go in and out ALL.DAY.LONG is not conducive to productivity. And because I’m newer at this, it takes me FOREVER to fill in a contract or design a simple mailer. Seriously, I could be at one project that should take 30 minutes for hours instead. Also it was way too easy for my kids or my husband to pop in to chit chat or need me to do something. Now I’m up in our room and I have a DOOR…that can close the animals and the kids and my husband out! I get way more accomplished in way less time. Score! Anyway, here’s where the magic happens…my tiny “corner office”…get it?…because it’s in the CORNER or our room? haha!
Nothing too fancy here, just a small desk and a pretty pink bookcase. The “desk” is actually an old sewing table with the machine removed. It’s just enough space for my MacBook and monthly calendar. I’m able to keep all the important things within easy reach. The light that floods in from the windows makes this for a lovely space to put together marketing materials or join in on a zoom call. The rose gold file folder holder and sparkle pen cup (thanks mom!) came from Amazon and the shiny A, was a HomeGoods find. Please take note of my cup warmer…I love this thing so much that I now have FOUR of them strategically placed around the house! You can find it here. Trust me, you will wonder how you went so long without it. I no longer have to reheat and reheat and reheat all day long and it’s only $10! (tip: make sure you are using a mug with a nice flat bottom, the bigger then better in this case)
Just ignore that dusty table top and feast your eyes on the cutest Keurig ever! You see, my husband has a coffee maker in his home office…right there…next to his work space. He’s able to keep himself in fresh coffee all day. I figured why should he get to have all the fun! So, it just so happens that this darling PINK (I love pink in case you couldn’t tell) Keurig just jumped right into my Target cart last time I was there…I swear…it just jumped right in! And here it is all ready, willing and able to make me a cup of tea anytime I want. Oh, and how cute is that K-cup holder?? My sister-in-law who is always on the lookout for fun finds at various antique places, gifted me this Tetley Tea tin for Christmas. I love nothing more than creative storage!
So, that’s it…that’s where I work. It may not be fancy but I adore it. Anyone else still working from home? What creative ways have you found to carve out your own special work space?

For $10 I guess I’ll get a cup warmer for myself. Nice article!
